New features

Custom user roles

⭐ Owners and administrators can now create custom user roles in the new Custom Roles tab on the team's Details page. A custom role has a name, a color and a set of permissions. It can be assigned to any team member. The dashboard shows each member only the actions their role allows.

Available permissions:

  • Create, edit and delete drafts
  • Publish drafts
  • Create, edit and delete translations
  • Change statuses and add comments
  • Create orders
  • Create, edit and delete tags and screenshots
  • Verify screenshots
  • Add, edit and remove languages
  • Create statuses
  • Edit status rules
  • Import through integrations
  • Add and remove translators
  • Create user groups and add or remove translators in user groups

Custom roles can't delete orders or create, assign or edit other custom roles. The team's change log records when a custom role is created or updated.

Branching section in Project settings is now visible to all users

💬 Previously, you had to contact the GlobalLink Strings team to enable branching before you could convert your project into a branching project

⭐ Now, all owner or administrator users on the Pro, Growth or Enterprise tiers can access the Branching section under Project settings. From there, they can convert their project into a branching project, subject to the branch limit for their plan, without contacting the GlobalLink Strings team.

This change does not automatically convert existing projects into branching projects. When creating a new project, the project-type toggle still defaults to a non-branching project.

Improvements

Shared projects open first when you have no own projects

💬 If you work on projects that other people own, for example as a member of your company's team, the Projects list used to open on an empty "My projects" tab.

⚙️ Now, if you have no projects of your own but at least one shared project, the Projects list opens on the Shared projects tab. As soon as you own a project, it opens on My projects again.

Bug fixes

Project name change captured in change log

🛠 Changing a project's name is now recorded in the changelog

Excel import dropdown displays full information

🛠 Excel files that failed to import in the new UI now import correctly. The import dialog shows full language names and codes, which helps in projects with several variants of one language.
